The colours of Love

by Lithium   May 31, 2007

Red as the roses that brush against your lips,
Sweet as the touch at the end of your fingertips.
Blue as the frost that slowly melts away,
Like the yellow sunshine brightening up our day.

Green nature begins to blossom at our reign,
As do magical nights, under the summers rain.
The sun rises behind the silver clouds,
Standing alone but still strong and proud.

On awakening to your soft maroon kiss,
I lie next to you in complete bliss.
While you light my heart on fire,
Upon a carpet of gold and sapphire.

Our love gets stronger as the orange sun goes down.
The waves begin to settle all around.
Underneath the stars, on the creamy sand,
We look into each other's eyes, holding hands,

Secretly whispering, words so true,
The words of love: "I love you".

Dedicated to Scott Clarke, I love you.

[I wrote this for a poetry competition I'm entering at school, the theme was colour]
