Do come as May

by Tempest Instone   May 31, 2007

Don't come like frost !
You'll hurt the rose in my heart.
Like scorching heat ?
You'll burn the crop of my past.

Start out like Fall,
so that I call,
my own soul to meet you...

Naked from leaves,
does the truth of life stand!
With no looks of deceit,
does the tree of love get grand!

Go on like Spring,
so that I bring,
my finest wealth to give you.

Do come as May
to warm the bay of my crust!
Settle in my gulf
to cast a spell on my lust!

It's not easy to keep your heart open after experiencing 'the pain', but you communicate eloquently the acceptance necessary for it to continue to feel true love. Great poem.

    Thanks!
