Public Deceit

by JRS   May 31, 2007

You stand alone atop the crowd
Your voice is heard so very loud
You speak of love and a life of care
You speak of justice and what is fair
Put on, adjust that mask of truth
This you learned in your failed youth

At night you lay asleep in your bed
Visions of fury rage in your head
A cancer has eaten its way through your heart
A mishap of your destiny right from the start
Cover your sins, falsehoods and deception
Traits you've possessed from your conception

Sheep follow the herd no matter what's said
Control the world until it is dead
Rely on your charm and loyal connections
Deceive and deny, they'll see only perfection
