Cancer

by Tracy D Rollings   May 31, 2007

Remember when it came
you took it very well
through the surgeries and pain
when you hurt could' tell.

Never did you complaint
have anything bad to say
just seem to enjoy life
each and ever day.

Tho as time grew near
no one really knew when
home from work that day
they called I came then.

I Was told six months
that's not true at all
waited till the last minute
before they ever called.

Got Christmas with you
happy new year too
soon you'll be gone
there's nothing I can do.

We shared memories of past
ones that made you smile
forgave each other at last
held your hand for a while.

Couple months down the road
said you were feeling good
but it didn't last long
I prayed that it would.

That call came back again
you wouldn't make through tonight
we stuck it out together
got to hold you tight.

Now the day has come
time for you to go
heard your name called today
angels will take you away.©2007 Tracydr42

In memory of my mother
who died from cancer.

These poems always get to me.
I find it so hard to right in memory of someone so close to me, and really respect when someone can.

In the second stanza I think "complain" would fit better.

Well done on this, the hardest poems to write are those which are for someone.
But they always hold the most emotion.

    gooood write =]

    Painfully touching!!
I think i would fall to pieces if i lost my mum. Can only imagine what it woud be like. What an amazing poem, potrays how devastating a disease like cancer is. Take care.
