Swept away

by fvalconbridge   Jun 1, 2007

The clouds rolled in,
And it rained that day,
When innocence was swept away.

I tried to run and tried to hide,
But it didnt soothe what I felt inside.

I thought I was wrong,
It was all a sick joke,
But the tears well up and I begin to choke.

My memory is clear,
Though Ive locked it away,
Because Im froze in that moment and I died there that day.

3 years since its gone,
It was my to give away,
But remember it rained when it was stolen that day.

Ive accepted it now,
And Im used to the rain,
It wasnt my fault and I block out the pain.

Ive moved on from that moment,
And Ive melted its frame,
But Ill never forget when innocence was swept away.

It's very cutting. You don't play around with the subject and you force a confrontation with the reader from the outset. Very bold and very honest. This indeed is on the road to healing.

    Good poem..well penned..
But there are pretty lot of typos which i think is creating a tad mess to the poem's look..Consider revising the work..Just a thought!

This is good poem, but little hard to read with those copy/paste mistakes. Anyway, well written 5/5
