If I were, I hope I can

by Mary Rose   Jun 1, 2007

If I were a bird, freely I would soar
Into the vast blue sky, far above the ground
I would travel far away from home
In search of a new place, which I could call my own
A place were there is no hatred and pain
But rather happiness and love all around

I wish I were a tree, sturdy and tall as can be
So birds could rest and nestle on me
Feed there hatch lings, chirp or tweet
And children would come to play
Or simply relax under my shades
Satisfied I would be, seeing the beauty in me

If I learn how to fly a plane
I would go places Ive never been before
A long exciting journey, oh how fun it would be!
different places, different races
aren't they wonderful to see?

I hope I can be the person that they want me to be
But should they just accept me for me?
For who I am and what I am
An individual with imperfections
Thats how Ill always be!
In time, I hope that I can be
The person loved and accepted for me
Instead of the person that they want me to be.
