A cry from a motherless child

by shaka onuora spagnoletti   Jun 2, 2007

I reached for her breast
loaded with milk
but received a plastic bottle
of an unnatural feel

when I decided
to make my first step
I held my hand out
but she was behind
not supporting but pushing

out hours late
I would sit
feeling lonely
and decided to cry
a hand reached for me
though with warmth
it felt cold
for it was my mother's arms
I wanted to hold

So whenever she came
on her tummy I'd crawl
She thought I was over bearing
but all I asked for
was affectionate love
so rejected I now was
for a cry you now hear
from a motherless child
