In the beginning

by shaka onuora spagnoletti   Jun 2, 2007

In the beginning there was heaven and earth
and the poet said
let there be light and there was reminiscing
of the good the bad, and the ugly
and through these three happy days were remembered
through these three memories walked
the rough way they once trod
and alone the smooth path that they came

and the poet said
let there be dark and there was
poverty stricken, racist and powerful men
and through these three world war was fought
slaves were bought and whites and blacks
were taught to look beyond the color to the skin
which determined the actual color
and through these three and those before were done

the poet said
let there be life and live
in the light and the dark feared
that one day up their tree the end would bark
