Love Seen

by HopefulxRomantic   Jun 3, 2007

"I just wanted you to know how I felt."
"Well, I already knew."
"You did? Who told you?"
"The wind. Does it matter?"
"It should."
"Guess again. Look, I don't want to act on anything like this."
"Who said anything about acting?"
"You did. All your talk about love..."
"That's no act."
"Well, what is it?"
"What is love?"
"Not quite. What is your love?"
"My love is for expression."
"How so?"
"God, or the Gods, or whoever and however many people watch over us, will see the acts of love and smile down on his, her, their creation. Love is what built the Earth, Love will sustain it, and lack of Love will destroy it.
"Love shouldn't be a commitment, though. Love is an expression. Love is as free as the harmonies of a breeze or the ripples of a river flowing. If there is a God of romance and passion, I would consider that the expression of the love he or she holds so dear is merely the worship of him or her, like offering them our hearts on beds of rose petals.
"But we need not besiege the Gods just for an offering. Expressing love is my prayer, in the hope that a God, or spiritual being, or whatever will watch over my act and smile upon my worship. Ultimately, I will never kill in the name of my religion, will I? These little prayers of mine will bless the act of romance in my life, and come the time I choose to call upon my God of passion, he or she will be with me, guiding me through happy love."
"Why? What do you think?"
"I think it's time you did a little besieging."

I don't know how I should come about praising you again. Your words are deep and they all make the hair on my arms stand up. For every sticky situation I am in, I remember one of your poems and I calm down and begin to think clearly. WOW 5/5

I've been toying with the notion of writing a play with a love scene (notice the play on words?) similar to this one in it. Or possibly a novel. I dunno. It would be a while either way. So many exams...

This was intentionally going to be an "erotic" poem, re a dsicussion forum by Bob Shank. It kinda changed since then. Oh well.

    Comments greatly appreciated!
