The Truth Behind The Smiles

by Daphne Darling   Apr 20, 2004

These tight bounds, that hold me tight,
They keep me safe from my own mind,
This frown upon my sorrowful face,
I do not whish you to see,
So I hide it behind a smile,
You see this smile and mistake it,
You think me happy and care free,
But in reality I do not feel this smile,
It is just a mask to fool you all,
You all see this less happy smile,
You disbelieve me when I tell the truth,
You only want the lies I tell as truth,
You are who you are, no other,
I am not what I seem at first glance,
Please see what life holds for me now,
Please really don’t be sad for me,
I am one of the few that lead my own path,
Be happy for me and maybe then I can be happy,
If for some reason, I do not see the new years coming,
Remember that I am the shining star you know, still,
Remember I will be your friend still,
Even if I am no more, I will be true,
Until all ends my friendship holds true,
I only whish that I will see the New Year next time,
I only wish that on one would take my lead,
I know what I am and what you are,
We are only humans and that is all we can be,
When you look above and see a bright shinning star,
Remember me for that is what I am,
The bright star leading you on your path,
See me and smile for what I once was,
Then don’t think of the bad times that are,
Think of the good times that were and are and will be.
