Shackles

by Twisted Heart   Jun 3, 2007

Tranquil sunsets calling softly
Misty glades of lonely roads
Behind eyes of mere sorrow
A patch of grass beneath me grows.

A heart forever seeking refuge
Long trails of hunger bares the soul
In tepid dreams planting feet
Upon a path formed long ago.

Inside the mind stirs confusion
Dark harness captures whispered breath
Caged by lights that are so fleeting
To cause a tempered death.

Restless pacing, heart is pounding
Cages raping freedoms chase
Quicken feet beneath the spirit
With only broken dreams to face.

But in the distance it is calling
Upon my heart as was before
Shackles from the mind are lifted
Letting wings take flight once more.
