No Tears

by debbylyn   Jun 3, 2007

No tears you say
Yet they fall
In tiny rivulets
Feeding my stream of despair
Carrying me on to the river of heartache
I know too well

Oh God! My prayers
Answered so joyously
Come with a cost
A cost too steep to bear
For losing my heart
Counts my soul the casualty

No longer alone
Upon the brink of life's horizon
I reach for my love
To find an empty sea
Heartache's river has carried me once more
To that desolate shore of loneliness

This is one of the saddest poems I've read- it captures so much emotion, one can't help but feel all you've poured into this poem and I know I, as well as many others can relate to this. Fantastic images, but it is the overwhelming emotion that washes over one upon reading it. Excellent poem.
