Alone

by Lyssi Lori   Jun 3, 2007

A fork in the road is where we both stand,
I can sense his intensity through his hand.
A brief pause, a deep breath, I be him not to go,
He leans over to whisper, but we both already know.
His grip loosens, he pulls away, and my heart sinks into an eternal black hole,
I try to fight back the urge, but a tear starts to roll.
I reach for his hand, but I'm hit with a cold rejection,
Left alone, venerable, without his warmth and protection.
