Wall Between

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Jun 4, 2007

Alone with my darkness
pressed against the wall
I swear I felt you breathing,
but maybe it was in my head, after all.

And so the night is filled with memories
leaving me to wonder why
Ever since you left me alone
the colors have faded from my life.

There are a thousand reasons not to love you
but only one keeps me near
None of that is relevant anymore
all that matters is you're here.

I wish that I'd never broken my promise
it's something I regret every day
I swear I'd make it better if you'd come back
and I promise that this time I'll stay.

We're so distant now that its over
we might as well be miles apart
The room might be getting colder-
these six inches feel so far.

It's this adamant barrier
a relentless wall between
That keeps us eternally separated
no matter how loud I scream.

One of these days I'll break through
I'll make you love me one more time
Say the words and make the moves
until you promise that you're mine.

    Very good, very sweet :)
    The rhymes go nicely together,
And it's got a nice rhythm to the poem.
    Nice choice of words
    "Adamant barrier" I love that!
