Nanny

I feel you in the nighttime
As I lay awake in bed.
When I listen to my music
Thoughts of us dance in my head.

We used to have so much fun
While we laughed the day away.
I never thought I would see you like this
While so lifeless in bed you lay.

As I look into your hurting eyes
I try so hard not to cry.
Cancer is such a devastating thing.
And all I can do is ask why.

You never smoked a day in your life
Nor did you do drugs.
Why was this woman put through this?
The woman who gave us so much love.

Today was your funeral
We played that Vince Gill song you love
I hoped that you could hear it,
While you look down on us from above.

You meant to much to all of us.
Don't feel like you let us down.
God needed you up in Heaven.
We have no reason to frown.

You left an afterglow
Of smiles, love and laughter
And for that we are thankful
While were reminiscing hereafter.

So "Go rest high on that mountain.
Because your work on earth is done.
Go to Heaven a-shouting
Love for the Father and the Son."

This poem was an excellent one. I liked all the rhyming and how it was all so believable. Great poem!
