Ask Him Again

by ari   Jun 5, 2007

A tight smile, a simple touch.
I ask him
have you ever truly laughed?
have you ever truly loved?
A fleeting glance, a rehearsed existence.
I ask him
have you ever truly seen?
have you ever truly been?
A casual kiss, a fake aftertaste.
I ask him
have you ever tried to feel?
have you ever been real?
Laugh truly,
love to feel,
see reality be.
Build your wall back up again
with shards of lives forgotten.
A foundation of lies and alibis;
one day it will come tumbling;
bricks of shattered love and broken laughs.
A collapse of promises never fulfilled.
The hope of a young boy killed.
I tried to tell him, but he wouldn't listen,
and now it's a life ended.
