Strawberry Fields Forever [Lyrics]

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Jun 5, 2007

[VERSE 1]

The soundtrack to my summer was filled
With songs written and played by him
And on that mixed tape he softly spilled
Every thought inside his beating heart to me.
It was the fifth of June when he said,
"Baby, I'm gonna love you forever and always"
And I couldn't get those words out of my head,
But he took me in his strong arms and held me -
The rain was pouring down, when he took my hand,
He told me to run with him to the old red barn,
In his Daddy's field, through the green farmland.
And that door was squeaking on it's hinges that night,
But we sat in the sheltered barn together,
And he softly kissed my forehead in the moonlight,
As we looked out to the Strawberry fields.

[CHORUS]

Up in the hayloft, he asked if I was ready,
And with lust in my eyes I said yes,
Holding me close and holding me steady,
He laughed at my shaking breath.
With a bottle of Strawberry wine by our sides,
And the June moon watching everything,
We layed together, letting our lips collide -
In our hearts there's strawberry fields forever.

[VERSE 2]

September came again and school was here,
He ran off with a girl named Sue to Nashville,
And year after year, I still come to this frontier -
Looking to that old red barn with squeaky doors.
For the first few months, I'd call him late at night,
Just to hear his voice and silent thoughts,
And although my head was filled with spite,
I still had that fading picture of us together.
And June fifth every year, I'll walk alone,
Down to that abandoned farm with strawberry wine,
And I'll sit and remember this milestone -

[VERSE 3]

I remember the day that I got the dreaded call,
From a childhood friend of ours,
Hearing those six words, I took the fall -
"Sorry to say, but Jordan died."
The funeral was on June fifth, a small ceremony,
And in his casket I softly placed a bottle,
With all the misty eyes focussed on me,
I turned and whispered to him -

[CHORUS]

Up in the hayloft, you asked if I was ready,
And with lust in my eyes I said yes,
Holding me close and holding me steady,
You laughed at my shaking breath.
With a bottle of Strawberry wine by our sides,
And the June moon watching everything,
We layed together, letting our lips collide -
In our hearts there's strawberry fields forever.

...Up in the hayloft, he asked if I was ready,
And with lust in my eyes I said yes,
Holding me close and holding me steady,
He laughed at my shaking breath.
