A Dream or a Vision?(Hella Long)

by SheR   Apr 20, 2004

As a sleepy teenager
You lay on your soft warm bed
you quickly fall asleep
next thing you see is,
Bright White Light
In a Room with no Exits
Laughter of a Clown
Grows louder and Louder
a door slowly appears
twisting the knob
you feel you have escaped
Escaped to a rusty bathroom
a little girl is facing you
She seems about 6 years old
big brown eyes
her face all smugged with dirt
In rags with holes and tears
She says in a quiet
Yet scared little voice
Hello Mommy!
She smiles
Her statement
echos through your head
Mommy?

Her smile then
turns into a frown
she coughs and coughs
she coughs up water nonstop
she coughs as if shes drowning
in an invisible pool
She falls
seizure-like
You panic, you try to save her
No use shes dead
you sit crying by her side
then you hear her voice
Dont worry about me, Mommy.
Again, the word Mommy
Races through your head...
Im not your mommy

a flash of light
appears in front of your eyes
you cant move
you cant breathe
all you can hear are beeps & voices
you gasp
You look towards your stomach
all you see are people and
you also notice....
you stomach has expanded
You scream!

You wake gasping for air
Tears rolling down your cheeks
A dream you say
you look at you stomach
it is normal
ideas race through you mind
it was a dream
or was it a vision?

I love this poem. Its confusing but has such truth behind it. Its almost as if you are in a dream when you're reading it!
