Will We Run

by marilyn marti   Jun 5, 2007

I contemplate my understanding
of the hope we have to feel we belong
and the years that pass....
and we wish we grew strong.
We've reversed our morals
thrown out every cause
we lose ourselves in love...
and focus on our flaws
We can't count the hours
we beg for a better world
but do nothing to fix it......
not even share our own words.
We struggle for acceptance
in a place far from perfect
We always blame ourselves..
til we feel that we deserve it.
Hands down we fight wars...
existentialism can't win..
the extra weight we carry..
keeps tearing at our skin.
How can we find some solid ground..
a place to call our home..
Can we be the undesired..
who remain forever alone?
Can we join our strength together..
Or am I the only one?
Will we fight for our beliefs..
or turn around and run?
