Treasures of the Heart

by Just Sierra   Jun 6, 2007

Weak and despondent, waiting for something beautiful and true
I found something bright and hopeful, lurking inside you.
And I waited and waited for a spark to finally ignite
To see my angel, beautiful and merciful, standing in the light.

He saved me from myself, he saved me from the dark
He saved me from the pain I held deep inside my heart.
He saved me from the rain, he saved me from the blade
He saved me from the crash of the high before it fades.

I'm somewhere in the middle now, completely chained to what I feel.
So in love it hurts to every bone, never knew it could be this real.
Now I wait beside the telephone every second, every burning day
Waiting for him to call, to be my drug, to take my pain away.

Now I know why people say that love is evil and unkind,
Now I know why people say that love is truly blind
I know now that to love you must give your heart away
And that to love, it means, that hearts break and decay.

But in knowing this, I feel no gratitude because I am a shell
Simply an angel, who wanted to love, but only fell.
I am a martyr, a victim to the plague that is the dark.
For these secrets are treasures, treasures of the heart.

I liked this :] The title really drew me into it and made me want to read it even more. Your descriptions were great as was the emotion in it. One thing though, in the line:

"Iâ??m somewhere in the middle now, completely chained to what I feel."

^^ Take out the symbols in "I'm". The website does that to some words, but it would look neater if you edited them out.
