Spring

A girl walked slowly down a solitary road
Humming softly as she knelt to the earth
Smelling the sweet delicacies of God’s creation
she leaned against a tree and began to think

If only the golden poppies were always in bloom,
swaying gently in the wind like a sea of treasure
or the brilliant tree flowers forever blossomed
reminding the world of the beauty in simplicity

These flowers showed her the love of the Lord.
if He dresses the roses so elegantly,
With colors so bright and magnificent
Just how much more must He adore her beauty

When she looks in the mirror her heart becomes sad
She wants to be better, so perfectly formed
But the worlds standards lie to her, teach her to conform
Causing her to wake up feeling less special than she deserves

She sees how carefree the flowers can be
and she tries to also be simple and pleasing.
God waters the flowers and provides them with sun
In the same way she yearns for Him to be so nourishing

As she takes in the smells of the fresh trees around her
she considers the way the world sings to its maker
and the music overwhelms her and helps conquer her fear
Standing up, she dances so light footed and elegantly

Her dance is ungraceful, but she no longer cares
Spinning, she absorbs the feeling of the grass between her toes
wanting only to please her maker in her simplest form
just making herself vulnerable for Him to adore

Sure the world’s opinions are harsh, she thinks to herself
But Abba, my daddy, means oh so much more
If He adores the flowers in the way that I see
then just how much more must He love a child like me.
