I Promised Myself

I promised myself that by your side is where I belonged
But now I find myself wondering if living without you can ever make me strong.

I promised myself that for you I'd never shed another tear
But now my face is soaked whenever I see you reappear.

I promised myself that I'd find a way to move on
But I'm still stuck in the middle wondering what the hell went wrong.

I promised myself that my broken heart would remain unseen
But all that it has brought me was a never ending fountain of broken dreams.

I promised myself this and much more
But like my heart, these promises broke.
