Just one more

by emmerz   Jun 7, 2007

'Just one more' is all we say;
One more 'I love you',
One more sun to see set,
One more friend to make.

But life isnt always that kind.
Instead, it gives us less time than we want
And less comfort than we please.
It only gives us what it decides to that day.

As we become the innocent bystanders
In a guilty game of life or death,
We realize just how blessed we are.

If life wins, then we get many chances
To say our 'I love you's and watch our sunsets;

But if death is the winner,
We'll just have to wait until
We are reunited with those things;
If we are at all, that is.

It's not like we have a choice after death!
Yet we do have a choice during life
The question is, will we make the right one?

    I like this, a lot. Once again, there were a few things that seemed a little off to me, but overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I usually extremely dislike questions as an ending line, but I must admit, this one did quite well where it is. Great job.

    Very interesting life poem. I like the word choice and the cohesion is there in this piece. Poetic and lexically strong. 5/5 all the way

    In the line "And less comfort that we please." that should be than :)
