My Best Friend

We built a fence around us
and locked it good and tight
to keep ourselves from falling out
we knew we'd be alright

We had our share of problems
we had our share of pain
but through everything thats happened
strength is what we gained

So now it seems we'er racing time
to be the best friends we can be
cause we both know what lies ahead
will be the end of you and me

It hurts so much to know the truth
it often makes me cry
in a few short months the lock will break
and we'll have to say goodbye

We've learned so much in just this year
and alot more in the past
we're holding on with our tightest grip
and we're hoping it will last
