True Colors

by xoxShorteexox   Jun 9, 2007

I've been waiting,
for you to show your true colors,
your show isn't fooling me,
soon the world will see,
the true colors of your personality.

You've tried to hide your emotions,
but those true colors are showing through,
you're broken down to the last bone, darling,
don't try to fool me I already see,
you're tore to the very last thread.

I've been sitting here,
trying to get you to open your eyes,
this is our true reality,
your colors are starting to come through,
don't fight the true color of your heart, dear.

You've been watching your every step,
trying to act like you haven't been hurt one bit,
but those true colors are shining through,
I can see it in your eyes,
you've fallen from all you've ever known.

I'll be here until you're ready to tell me,
but darling I already know what you're thinking,
you think your true colors are hidden,
but I can see right through that facade,
your red lipstick only fools yourself.

You'll be at fault when you're on the floor again,
your colors are showing through your make-up,
the black and blues are coming out,
he abused you, why can't you just let it out,
you've fallen just tell me the truth.

I'm right here to listen and hold you,
but you're pushing me away,
I can see the true colors of the bruises,
they've become so clear to my sight,
so don't tell me you just fell over the table again.

You're lying through those tears,
just say what you mean, dear,
he hit you down to the floor again,
you tried to fight him off this time,
but it finally crossed the line.

I'm standing next to your grave,
wishing you would have just asked for help,
as guilt overcomes my soul,
I was there waiting to hear it from you,
but your true colors gave it away.

You're with the angel of death now,
he promised to make your bruises fade,
may you come to me in my dreams,
and let the truth be known,
even if it's just a whisper of what happened.

I've fallen asleep as the sound of your voice,
comes to me in my dreams,
you look at me with your tear filled eyes,
and I watch your bright red lips tell me,
"you seen my true colors and you were right."
