The Boy Who Loses Everything

by Echelon Eric   Jun 10, 2007

There was once this boy in a confused state
He was known for his smiles and happy face
But all that changes when he gives in to hate
His jealousy of his friends and their gains
Drives him to unfaithfulness and rage

He was like this way because he reached out to people with love and care
Putting himself behind and trying to do right
He gives himself and gets little back, an unhealthy cycle of give and take puts him in despair

It starts with ill thinking and speaking out loud to himself
Jumping to ill conclusions of what they think of him
His feelings get carried away
He doesn't seek help because it feels that no one would listen or theyre tired of him
When they're really just busy or it's not the right time

He feels untrusted and inferior
They say things to him he doesn't like
Not knowing that he appreciates no more cruel jokes
For his sense of humour to degrading words are not as developed

Angry at people he thought to have betrayed them
He disowns them secretly
Not caring about their problems, saying cruel things unlike before
No longer the happy face or smile
But eyes of fatigue and lifelessness

One day, he sees his friend in trouble
He is drowning in a lake and calling for help
He cannot swim but the boy can
The boy looks on at him, with traces of pity and disgust in his eyes
He can save him, but his selfishness and his newly developed cruelty doesn't let him
He lets his friend die, his last breath and view is the boy turning his back and walking away

One by one everyone loses love for him
Turning him away and saying words of real distrust
They do it kindly though, which confuses him
He expected them to show their hatred and just leave him like he thought they planned
Their words of sadness backed with tears shows their pain of letting him go

"He's not him anymore, we have to let him go, I'm sorry" they say
He realizes that it was all his doing and thinking
From the beginning to end, it was everyone else that was betrayed

He goes to his friend's grave, with tears in his eyes
The pain is unbearable, but he manages to whisper out a weak "i'm sorry" for the ones he hurt
With the last of his will to live, he reaches into his pocket for the poison and a piece of paper
Poison he was planning to kill the same friend
To him, it was the cure to his already dead soul
He takes it and relieves himself of his shame

They find his body, the empty bottle, and the piece of paper
He used some of the last drops of poison to spell out the same sorry he spoke out
The hatred and envy that he feared tricked him into being the one that loses everything

*Gulp* I hope that boy you're writing about is not you- because I know you've been down for a while... I might sound repitious, but is really nice to talk to an adult or someone older than you to let out your feelings. It's not that I don't have time for you or your friends to give you advice, but maybe who can give you real help to get out from this ickiness~ talk to me if u need help and workin on the pix ;)

Omgosh. That was amazing. Really sad story. I thought I was gonna cry! But it's really good, and the word choice was wonderful. Well done!! =]
