Vanity

by Natalie   Jun 10, 2007

Webs weaved tainted lies beneath skin,
Desolate scene became cryptic within,
Balls bounced back and forth down halls,
Scraping surfaced paint off of the walls.

Mirror reflections haunted vanity mind,
Imperfections were the only thing to find,
Screeching pleas deafened weak ears,
Leaking truth out of deceitful pools of fears.

Eyes of innocence burned into dark flames,
Staring into images which were to blame,
Flashbacks of memories flickered in the light,
Disposing of all the good which was done right.

Words spoken of love are not in trusts hands,
Paranoia tipped the hourglass filled of sands,
Precious diamonds are only left to shimmer,
And the hope inside me is only getting dimmer.

An excellent write, as I was pulled into it by the first line and stanza. All is Vanity under the Sun.

That was a really good poem. The rhyming wasn't forced at all and it flowed really well.
