Drunk On Shadows [Terzanelle]

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Jun 10, 2007

"I'm drunk on shadows and baby yours is killing me,"
She screams to a spinning bedroom wall,
"I'm drunk on shadows and baby yours is killing me."

Onto her shaking knees, she slowly takes the fall,
"I hope your black heart is as empty as mine now,"
She screams to a spinning bedroom wall.

The sun beats down to the sweat on top of her brow,
As she stands cursing to his black and white picture -
"I hope your black heart is as empty as mine now."

She holds her spinning head, his face becoming a blur,
And crystal tears stream down from her broken eyes,
As she stands cursing to his black and white picture.

"You held me sturdy through all of your stupid lies,"
She whispers under her whiskey tainted breath,
And crystal tears stream down from her broken eyes.

"And your sweet face slowly became the face of death;
I'm drunk on shadows and baby yours is killing me,"
She whispers under her whiskey tainted breath;
I'm drunk on shadows and baby yours is killing me,"

The Terzanelle is a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain.

    I think you might just be my new favorite author. I would love to hear the music you'd put this too, because it would be an AWESOME song. 5/5 again
