Elsewhere Revisited

by Perfectly Unperfect   Jun 11, 2007

This poem is just about society and world issues that we are blessed not to have in our country. It's more about patriotism than anything and how we should be thankful that we live in a country so free...
-----------------------------------------------------

Somewhere there's a mother mourning
Saving tears to wash her daughter's hands
Hoping there will come a pouring
Swooshing water across the dry land

Somewhere there's a leader scolding
Forcing soldiers on innocent men
And in their hearts these men are hoping
That only one shot will relieve them

Somewhere there's a plague a preying
On the lives of both the old and young
And the men sit there debating
On how they can save every last one

Somewhere there's a nation fighting
Against a government gone astray
Militias form and they are trying
To find the sun for a brighter day

Here we have been blessed with plenty
Never wanting or needing much more
Our nation was built so steady
We now are reaping what we've worked for

But still we have these people looking
For anything that just might be wrong
I say stop! And no more sulking-
Compare to others who sing sad songs

Here we may not be so perfect
But we have been more blessed than others
Find another cause and serve it
'Cause in this country we are brothers

Please no more fighting here I say
We must walk together hand in hand
Or our country will turn astray
And may soon become that "elsewhere" land.
