Grandad -- my Hero

by PJ   Jun 11, 2007

I was eight years old when he died
I remember the last time I seen him alive
I sat beside the bed, drinking orange juice he saved
He never drank it so he saved it just for me.

My Grandad was my idol, my hero
The closest thing to a father, the closest I know
He always let me know I'm not alone
No matter what, he's always going to be there.

I didn't know what he meant back then
Now as I look up into the sunrise, suddenly I understand
I look up and close my eyes, I feel him, I swear I do
He's the reason that my life I get through.

He never said a bad thing about someone
Always looked on the brighter side of life with everything
Loved everyone as everyone loved him
My best friend, always will be, no matter where he is.

His death killed us all, yet somehow I hurt the most
We were so damn close, everyone could see
Just how much my Grandad meant to me
How much my Grandad's death hurts and me it kills.

I know we'll be together again some day
That day I wish would come quicker
But until I take my last breath, come what may
I'll always remind myself and him, Grandad.. I love ya!
