Never taught to fly

by shadowknight   Jun 11, 2007

I never knew to soar,
to spread my wings and fly,
i never had a teacher,
never had a tutor.

i didnt know how to spread my wings,
to take off in the sunset,
land at sunrise,
i wasnt an eagle or bird of the north.

i was left at the door,
as everyone else took off,
i didnt have courage,
i didnt have soul.

i couldnt flap,
i couldnt glide,
i couldnt take off,
only run and hide.

My path was hard to follow,
the ground carried every obstacle,
i climbed the mountain so high,
i climbed the mountain so tall.

i reached the top,
still couldnt fly,
soar above the trees,
or glide with the birds.

i never thought to try,
never thought to learn,
i never tried to jump,
and unfurl my wings to fly.
