Simple Words

by beautiful xx disaster   Jun 11, 2007

The sun sets as your smile begins to fade,
Your eyes open wide to take in another day,
Your thoughts spin into shades of grey,
Opening your mouth but your words fall astray.

Your heart beats like drums in your ears,
The twisting of your tongue makes you realize your fears,
Your stomach strives to hold back the tears,
You are realizing the meaning behind all the years.

You can't make a noise but you are trying to shout,
Though you can't help control your oblivious doubt,
You look in his eyes and know what it's all about,
The gripping of your gut makes the words spill out.

I love you.

I'd just like to start off by saying that I loved the title. It was simple and perfect for this poem. The poem itself was good, but perhaps a little too simple. The length, was good, as was what was being expressed. I usually don't like love poems because everybody thinks they can write them, when in truth, they're the hardest to write. Anyway, i think you did a good job, not excellent, but good enough.
