Deeper Shade of Blue (252)

My life was once a sunny shade of yellow
Happiness, a surprise
But now belongs to a deeper emotion
Still hiding in my eyes.

This happiness has yet to give way completely
These hands have yet to kill
This heart has yet to mend
These tears have yet to spill.

But they hide within my eyes
As a deeper shade of blue
The only reminder to other people
Of my devotion to you.

If not in true love
Then who would cry
When their lovers left them
And without a said goodbye?

This emotion won't give way
To happiness born anew
The tears they color brightly
Reminding me of you.

The tears are imprisoned behind my eyes
As passion still for you
How long is it until my eyes
Are no longer this deeper shade of blue?
