Exploit of Immortality (yet another Vampire)

by Taylor   Jun 13, 2007

It's the scar that defines us-
the perpetual reminder of a fatal encounter,
and the binding contract of existence.
Our resistence: It's hopeless and damned.

We are the page-turners, and the book burners,
Based on a romanticized fiction
and celebrated as a glamourous conviction;
but they do not know us at all.

It's the thrill of the game, not the prize
that fuels and fulfills our isolation.
And to no great surprise, I see in there lies
no pity for a soul like this one.

No, not another word for the unspoken,
for the paraded and celebrated; we are devastated.
No more shadowed faces nor passionate embraces.
We are not your fairy tale.

    Great poem, I like the choice of words and the flow is good, too.
    Keep writing! 5/5
