Broken

by MzKhan   Jun 13, 2007

Standing in her school washroom, she glances at her face
But all her emotions have vanished without a single trace.
She remembers when she used to look and smile ear to ear,
And as she thinks this, she sheds a tear.

Back in Grade 9 everything was new
The shoes, bag, and hair colour were just a few.
The boys, teachers, and friends were so nice
It seemed so good, just like paradise.

As the months increased
She slowly deceased
Rumors began to spread, and people began to hate
This was looking to be her highschool fate.

She walked through the halls and into the classrooms
Only to hear her name tied together with bad news.
All this time she was waiting to say something back
But instead she retracted, and said those haters are just wack.

3 years later, here she is still
Trying to fight back with all her will.
Convinced that things can change for the better
She stays close to herself, like a tightly knitted sweater.

Every night she goes home, and collapses on her bed
Grabs her favourite teddy bear, and with the blanket covers her head.
She cries inside and out, for short and long
Wondering why this is going on.

To get away from this, she found a job
Only to go there, and be treated like a slob
Seeing the family isn't joyful
Their hurtful words are strong and plentiful

"D-O-N-G" the school bell has rung
Another day of this life has begun
She looks up from the ground, and stares at the mirror
She sees herself, but its not clearer

She's suddenly engulfed with rage
And feels tied up in this cage
Swinging her fist with a might weight
Smashes the mirror with all her hate

Shattered on the floor are the glass remains
The blood upon her hands stains
The mirror and her soul is now broken
Without one word spoken.
