Never to Call

"Dude"
"Hey what's up"
"Nothing really, you?"
"Eh, nothing much"
"So everything's ok now?"
"Yeah my mom is good"
"I didn't think she'd come around"
"You know I said she would"
I thought I had a friend back
I thought it would be okay
And then fate stepped in again
And took that hope away
"What mom? It's Ciaran."
"Ciaran? Why is she calling?"
"I dunno, you gave me the phone!"
And now my hopes start falling
"No I didn't, I thought it was Kat."
"What?! She told you her name."
"No Richa, get off the phone."
Oh look it's more of the same
So she tells me she has to go
I just sigh and she does too
"Ok, fine love you Rikki."
Whisper, "Yeah Pixie, love you."
She hangs up and I lay down
Just start to stare at the wall
Tears well up in my eyes
When will I be able to call?
My phone buzzes softly
I turn and pick up the phone
It says I have a new voicemail
Hrm, I thought I was alone
I punch in the numbers
And wait for it to start
What I thought may be you
Slowly tears me apart
No, it's your mom
She tells me never to call
I thought things were better
But I guess not, after all.
