Teen Fatality

by Celeste Williams   Jun 14, 2007

You smile &
I fall.
Fall from changing my attention, from keeping myself distracted.
So I don't sink deeper into the pit of quicksand that is you.

You laugh &
I become intoxicated by the sound.
Stronger than all the vodka in the word,
I try to force it out, to become sober.
But your laughter is fatal, like a drunk teen driver.

You hug me,
I am clasped in the straight jacket of my desire to cling to your slouched shoulders forever.
I fight for my life.
I battle inside myself to let go.
But I'm still strapped in my intoxicated battle to let go of everything I'm hooked on about you.

You are my drink,
My drug,
My straight jacket
The cause of my fatality
