The Leaves

by Suzie Q   Jun 14, 2007

The withered leaves fall in the darkness,
Their life crumbles away in pathetic despair.
The withered leaves fall in the darkness,
Their veins of essence drain away the liquid.
The withered leaves fall in the darkness,
Her hair is ripped in succulent tendrils.
The withered leaves fall in the darkness,
Her eyes betray her smile of rue.
The withered leaves fall in the darkness,
And slender, pale fingers grasp for assurance.

*This poem was a project for my Comp Lit class I am taking. It is called a Chant poem, being why it is so redundant.
