Love Sonnet (My Lover, My Light)

by Weeping Wolf   Jun 14, 2007

Oh he is my Lover! He is my Light!
'Tis my inspiration in the night!
Yearning, the eternal delight of mine eye
Adieu, still an echo, Scarlet lady's cry
Though she, as wild and untamed as the sea
When her heart grasps hold, wilt not undo easily.

Clutching on, like a candle handle before the fall
Till it be burning with hate, forced to withdrawal
Yet time ere time again, her hands are burnt and scald
Looking down at scarred palms that only wanted to hold.

Oh unmerciful sorrow! What hath God wrought?
To leave her unforgetting of all the world forgot.
For there never was a love living with more woe
Then a loveless lady living on without her Romeo.

First of all I'd like to say that this was a superb piece. Each line carried a unique style that seems to be quite powerful. I loved how the lines all flowed into each other smoothly and how throughout the whole poem the reader isn't forced to stumble through the words. Excellent job. 5/5.
