A Womans Affair

by Cathy   Jun 14, 2007

A woman awoke one morning with her husband not in sight
She figured he gone for work shell see him later on tonight
She got up to get ready first picked out a perfect outfit she could wear
Than she hurried to the restroom, to take the curlers off her hair
Walking back to her room she noticed a letter in the hall
Attached to a picture she had hanging on the wall
She didn't think to open it at least not right away
She was running late for the plans him and her made today
So she put it in her drawer and went to apply her makeup on her face
Wondering if he preferred silk over lace

She really didn't know they only met last night
at the bar across town where she once got in a fight
Laughing and drinking with girlfriends, she was drunk as can be
Dancing around on tables pretending she was free
He was the first to approach her, and let her know that he liked
Everything about her, and offend to take her home that night
She proudly accepted and told her girlfriends she had to go
Knowing she was married she told them not to let anyone know
So a little bit confused her friends begged her not to leave
a quite bit worried her intentions they perceived
They tried to talk her out of it, but she was ignoring their words
She blew a kiss goodbye; too late they knew they were not heard

Walking out the doorway they quickly began to kiss
Passion building in her she right away dismissed
The husband at home waiting for her all alone
Staying up late to make sure she's OK getting home
Suddenly the chemistry began getting deeper his hand creeping up her dress
The sexual tensions getting stronger they were ready to progress
So she followed to his car as he opened the back door
She felt like a teenager reminiscing on times before
They started to have sex and in her mind it felt so good
She couldn't believe the passion and how quickly she was in the mood
After it was over he asked her about her life
She mentioned she was married, but an unhappy wife

Laughing about the circumstances he drove her to her house
She tried to make a quiet entrance to not wake up her spouse
Her husband right inside heard a car pull up outside
Looking out the window he saw something that made him die
She turned up to the doorway smiling and happy as can be
Her husband in the corner, she did not see
He didn't say anything his heart wouldn't let him be mad
He was more depressed and feeling deeply sad
Yet he wouldn't even cry not for something like this
Not after picturing the two of them kiss
So he made the decision of what he was going to do
He refused to be deceived and played for a fool

So she spent the whole day cheating on her husband once again
By the time she got home it was 20 after ten
Her husband was nowhere she didn't seem to care
She figured he was okay and he would soon show up there
So she drifted off to sleep dreaming about this other man in her life
And that's how it was for the rest of the night
The next morning she awoke, didn't see her husband laying in bed
She wanted to call his cell but decided to get ready instead
So she went into her drawer and the letter fell to the floor
She picked it up and opened as she read her eyes began to pour

Dear Love,
I love you; you have been everything to me
I wish you knew I would die if you ever set me free
You know I brought you some roses hoping we could share
A little bit of quality time since I haven't really been there
I waited for you all night wondering if you were okay
I never thought that you'd make me feel in such an awful way
I saw you with that man the one who dropped you off last night
And something in my heart just didn't feel so right
I didn't mention anything to you, there was nothing I could say
I never thought you would hurt me in this way
So just to inform you for my last time
My life was the happiest during the whole time you were mine
But now my happiness is over there's no reason for me to live
Just know that I will always love you, and you I forgive
Unfortunately its over I love you so much I will set you free
You don't ever have to be unhappy being with a man like me
So goodbye to you my love here's a kiss for all your time
I am so very lucky that you were ever mine.

This was a tragic story about the scorned love many of us have lived through. It was a bit long but made up for the length in depth. It kept me wondering how it would end. Suicide? Divorce? Wow just a cliffhanger. There were a couple of grammar mistakes but nothing that would change the story. The flow with mood and good were aesthetically pleasing but seemed a little forced to find something to fit. As far as the story and the poem overall you have pulled off a very difficult task of staying on subject. I often have trouble with mine doing that when I write longer pieces. Good Job.
