Nothing Left To Say But Goodbye

Each day we pass in the halls of our home
Not a word do we share it's like living alone

You on your way to a job that you hate
I'm driving the carpool and we're all running late.

Too many times we just passed for we knew
That the distance between was too big and too true

Late nights all alone when you called on the phone
Working late once again and you wouldn't be home.

But I know you are lying It's a truth I must face
I've seen you with her, I have now been replaced.

The reflection of tears that are seen in my eyes
Is the pain of a heartache that lives in your lies.

As shadows cross over the love that we knew
Lost in the depths of two lives black and blue

No longer a semblance of what we once shared
Just scars from the wounds of pain that we wear.

Still I wait in darkness as tears fill my eyes
Knowing nothing is left but to say our goodbyes.

    I saw this in the contest forum and thought it was a great title! I am so excited you chose to do it, seeing as your one of my favorite poets. As always, you did an amazing job, but much better than usual I must say. I especially loved these lines,
    "The reflection of tears that are seen in my eyes
    Is the pain of a heartache that lives in your lies."

    Those were well worded and really hit the point!

    Amazing! i love the almost calm way this poem is read, that slows it right down. the rhymes seem to me to almost stumble into each other, and the feelings in the last half of the poem, are exaggerated through this technique! its really really good :) xx
