The highest high and the lowest low
You are my spring tide.
I watch you ebb and flow in and out of my life.
Drowning in the warmth of your arms and hugs
Then parched with thirst for your love.
Left empty and lifeless like the river bed
Waiting to catch the sea with it's
Mouth, like my heart left wide open
Ready to take another beating-
To be eroded away some more-
Changing the shape of my heart
Stealing some more of my love.
The highest high and the lowest low
You are my spring tide
But now I shall build a damn, a barrier
Around my heart to stem the flow.
I have precious little love left
And it has to stay with me.
