Echoes

by purplemadness   Jun 14, 2007

Even though you left to never return again,
The echoes of you still remain.
Echoes of the love we once knew,
In a time when our love still grew.
Echoes who reflect the words,
Echoes that come when my heart already hurts.

Our love was beautiful and pure
Like golden eagles in flight
My love was true, that's for sure.
But you left that dark night.
The echoes of your voice, they remain,
To accompany me and my dreadful pain.

Will you ever return? I don't know.
I may find the answer in the echo.
I have to listen close to what they say,
Hoping you will return one day.
Dreams and memories, so clear
Losing what I hold so dear.

Maybe I can once again be your friend,
Even if I have to travel to the rainbow's end.
Maybe you think of me as your rival,
But I am only fighting for our survival.
And the echoes that have filled my heart with grief,
You sneaked away, like a thief.

The echoes come to me like the morning rain,
Saddening and filling my heart with pain.
Knowing that you are immune for my desperate cries,
Now that your heart is wrapped in ice.
Why you left, I guess I will never know
The only thing left of you is that echoe...

I like the way the word echoes 'echoes' around the poem, esp through the first verse, emphasising the feelings inside u, and the name of the poem! x
