Love The Only Key (Love Sonnet)

by Unrequited   Jun 14, 2007

Twenty and two, and still I've yet to see the sunshine's rays,
'Tis only rain 'til I can feel the warmth of thine embrace
In bitter cold I lie, wishing and praying, counting down the days
When rain has ended and I see the light from thine own face.

My palms are dry and still my heart beats slowly
For my love doth lie in a place that's far too far
Mine eyes dare weep, for without thee they droop so lowly
'Til ours the day that's special, and thou become my star.

Caress this heart! Light this fire! My heart is in thy hand
For true be true, thy heart was locked, my love the only key
These days shall pass 'til thou is mine as made my God's own plan
The sun wilt rise, our love shall fly, this gloom wilt set us free.

Twenty and two, and still I've yet to meet thine eyes,
Yet soon this moment will appear, and thou wilt be the star within my sky.

This is a beautifully written sonnet, and you chose to make it so that everything you felt was out there...which makes it really personable..i love the "twenty and two", and how you went back to it in the last stanza, you're an amazing writer, keep it up
