MY SOLDIER

by kayla   Jun 15, 2007

My soldier was born on hot Saturday in July
9 lbs 2 ounces of joy and pride
Such a smart little lad you were from the start
So cute, such dimples you captured my heart

The terrible twos we thought would never pass
The kicking the screaming the the horrible sas
On to 5 , the school the learning , the test
You always wanting , trying to be the best

Oh god!! The teen years , how will I survive?
The booze, the drugs, the wanting to die
Friends close as brothers no longer are here
Lets forget the pain, drink one more beer

Feel cheated , alone, unwanted, and scared
God help me I cried, save me I dared
Alone in the dark my cries went unheard
Or so I thought in my lonely scared world

I have to get out, make a life for myself
I need some redemption, some self respect
A life with honor, integrity, the ability to cope
I'll give all I have, for this life full of hope

Off to boot camp, I am on my way
Blood , sweat and tears I know I will pay
The glory, the honor , a job well done
This is the life I want, I have now begun

My soldier was born on hot Saturday in July
9 lbs 2 ounces of joy and pride
So cute and so handsome always on my side
My heart so full of love, happiness and pride

I am proud of you son of the choice you have made
You are my hero , I understand the price you have paid
Forever you will be the baby I bore
However, now you are the soldier I love and adore
