Illusions

by xxSilentlyScreamingxx   Jun 15, 2007

I live in a city of illusions,
My life is simply one big illusion.
Nothing is ever as it seems,
Everything changes and turns around,
Just when I thought I'd figured it out.
Different backdrops every day,
Different scenes greet me upon waking,
A different life to adjust to with each new dawn.
The people wear their masks, their disguises,
To hide themselves from me.
Even the animals change to keep hidden,
To keep away from me the truth of life,
The meaning of this place.
I reach out to touch,
But they shrink away,
The world collapses around me,
Only to spring back up a different place,
A new illusion to lie to me,
To confuse me.
I wish this would stop.
I only want to know where I am,
What this place really is,
Who I really am...
