'Why are you so likeable?
You've got that charm about you.'
Words I never expected to hear
From anyone at all.
I sat there, wondering about those words,
The first to ever say them to me,
To ever say anything like that to me.
I must admit, it felt good.
I liked those words being said about me,
They made me feel special, feel loved.
Pity the words that followed weren't so good,
Brought me back down to reality
With a bump.
Buts were what followed:
But I need more time,
But I need to sort my head out,
But I need to make sure she's alright.
Ok...I guess I can deal with that for now,
It seems fair enough, to have those buts...
Here's a but of my own, how I feel NOW:
But why did nothing happen? Why the silence, then the pain?
Why did you say those words to me
If you were never going to act on them?
Answer me that, at least.
