Eyes of Existence

by Twisted Heart   Jun 15, 2007

I live... I die
In between I cry
I've loved... I've lost
Meager life time forgot.

Questions...
Pounding upon my heart
Did I live... or just exist
Did living end when love was through

Tempted even now
To reexamine the accuracy of life
The definition
Lost to me... or on me.
or because of me.

Life has dealt me a fool"s hand
But still I hold it close
to my breast, like holding a child,
Tenderness surmounting
The very breath
that exhales from my lungs.

Quest for answers...
Paths found yet untraveled
Merciful sorrow upon my mind,
So in shadows
of lost tomorrows
and tainted yesterdays
I look

Baring witness
to reflections of life,
Haunted by cold memories
stagnant and removed
Oh how I wish that were true

No tender mercies
befall me as I seek knowledge
Hindered and broken
in the face of diversity
I once again pose
the question...

Did I live

    Jeannie,
Awestruck! The never ending questions we have about our existence. Was it all in vain?
I have and am sure everyone else has asked the same questions you ask. You have penned a marvelous write. Although, I do not have any answers to the questions I can tell you this....my belief is everything happens for a reason, it is our choice to learn or regret our mistakes......but even then will it all be worthwhile. This poem is definitely going in my favorites. Fantastic my friend. Simply fantastic.
