Yesterday

by Anna Marie   Jun 16, 2007

Yesterday was bright, and the sun shone down upon us.
We longed for one another and fire spread within-ever consuming us again.

Yesterday was dark, like a moonless night, but we laughed so hard our cheeks became tight.

Yesterday our bodies merged into one-without thought or fear, as natural as a soft breath of air.

Yesterday you were determined and incapable of feeling pain. With a heart as black as onyx, you wouldn't even say my name.

Today, I portray a soldier, so strong I play, but my eyes give away my longing for yesterday.
