The Woman I Love Eyes Me All Over

by Mr M   Jun 17, 2007

The woman I love eyes me all over
As a kind of rainy day activity.
She is an exhibitionist of sorts
And not what anyone expects;
She seeks her birth again in me.
So if she takes me through
The passage of her heart,
I will listen only to myself
Because it's too hot,
Too beautiful to run
And certainly, any lost moments
Are likely to return
As long as I linger here.

    Ah, very nicely done. The first two lines are truly evocative. However, there's a distinct shift in emotions from the beginning to the end. Perhaps it's the word 'linger.' At the beginning the words seem to express an optimistic love, yet in the end the love is forlorn and every line hints at the finality of the feeling: too hot, too beautiful, lost moments... I enjoyed this one thoroughly. Thanks
